After her friend needed to downsize a large home filled with art, family heirlooms and collections over 80 years, one client contacted Sue Wickliff to help with the myriad questions they were facing:

What is the true value of the art, collections or furniture? Where do you start? Who can you trust? How do you find the right people to remove valuable items of all sizes, shapes and values? How do you do all this without exhausting yourself and depleting energy that could be spent living life?

Sue,

I wanted to take a moment and say thank you for all of your assistance regarding the sale and removal of most of my mother’s personal property. Once my mother decided to permanently move to Florida, I was left with the overwhelming task of selling her Indpls. home and selling and removing 20 years of personal possessions! I was referred to you and after we spoke, I felt a huge relief. Once my wife and I removed some of mom’s treasured memories, you went to work separating the nicer antique items from the regular household items.

You made the arrangements for two different auction houses (one specializing in nicer things) to pick everything up. The remaining items were taken to a local charity or thrown away. Lastly, you made arrangements for all of the garbage to be removed and the house cleaned for the new owners! Wow!

You fees were very reasonable. And the prices generated by the auctions were surprisingly fair. As a testament to your high character, you were honest enough to disclose the $2000 that you found hidden in a book!

Sue, we simply could not have done this without your help. Thank you!

Within the first hour of our meeting (with Sue) I can honestly say I felt a huge weight lifted from my shoulders. I had been overwhelmed at the prospect of sorting and researching and identifying the multiple people it would take to empty two homes of their treasures and just plain ‘stuff’… it is a huge relief to find a business with caring, expertise and a genuine commitment to helping you. Part of the relief is her reassuring you that you are not alone and this is what she does – and she does it very nicely.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the guidance and assistance you provided me during the sale of my Ada Shulz painting. This was a huge decision for me and you made the process so easy. Your professional manner was greatly appreciated and I truly feel that working with you eased all the concerns I had… I appreciate all you did.”

The deadline I presented to Wickliff Consulting was just shy of unreasonable. Could she facilitate the clean-out of 42 years of belongings from a five-bedroom house between Thanksgiving and Christmas? And could we squeeze the belongings of my memory-impaired father and my 90-year-old mother into their new two-bedroom place all in one day? And could an auction be arranged for the valuable items immediately thereafter? And about the “unsaleable” items, do you know a responsible scavenger who can pick up the items AND donate what is usable? And I really need help making my dad okay with all of this, as change is very unsettling to the Alzheimer’s patient.

If you are wondering HOW Sue Wickliff made my parents’ move happen effortlessly, and WHY she would take on such a request, I learned that the answers lie in her motivation for founding this business. She empathizes with families in this situation, and she has the talents, connections, and personality to make big transitions seem painless. Thank you very much, Sue, for orchestrating our relocation so well.

“It takes a heap of livin’ in a house to make it home!” and my parents did a heap of living in their home for sixty years. They moved in with five children and never looked back! Now we five are looking back.

Even though my parents did not put money into things and their treasure was in heaven it was an overwhelming task to empty the house. The memories made even the smallest dish too valuable to discard.

Enter Sue Wickliff! What a gift! What a gentle soul! What an understanding of the grief process when it’s time to dismantle the home of beloved parents.
With time as an issue and me paralyzed with overwhelming emotions You took charge. Your advice, direction, firm but gentle manner put me at ease and set me on task. Most of the decisions fell to me and with your help all was accomplished ten days ahead of schedule. Hooray!

How you did this is beyond me but I thank you from the bottom of my socks…….the bottom of my heart is not deep enough! Those you serve are blessed to have you in their corner. It was a blessing to have you in my corner.

Thank you again,

Judy L.
